It is suitable where wrinkles are caused by facial expression, not by volume loss or skin quality.   • Which areas is botulinum toxin injected into and how many units will I need?

    We most often treat the horizontal forehead lines, the vertical line between the eyebrows, and the lines around the eyes. The doctor chooses the dose and number of units based on the strength of your facial muscles and the area treated, so it varies between patients. Units are also not converted at the same ratio between different products, so a number quoted at another clinic may not mean the same amount of active substance. Whether an additional area can also be treated is assessed by the doctor at a free consultation.

  • Does the botulinum toxin injection hurt and how long does it take?

    We use a very fine needle, how it feels varies from patient to patient, and it is usually a brief pinch. On request, we apply a local anaesthetic cream before the treatment. The injection itself takes 10 to 15 minutes; including the consultation and cleansing the skin, expect a total of 15 to 30 minutes. If you are sensitive to the treatment, let us know in advance and we will adjust the approach.

  • When will I see the result, how long does it last, and how often is the treatment repeated?

    You will usually see the first change after 3 to 5 days, and the full result settles in within about two weeks. How long the effect lasts varies for each patient; it is influenced by metabolism, the strength of your facial muscles, and the dose applied. The effect does not wear off from one day to the next; it returns gradually, so the treatment is repeated once your facial expression starts creating the wrinkles again. The interval between treatments must not be shorter than 3 months, and the doctor suggests the timing of the next treatment based on how the effect fades in your case.

  • Will my face look unnatural?

    The goal is to soften expression lines, not to eliminate facial expression, which is why the dose and injection points are chosen so that some movement in the upper third of the face is preserved. The response to the same dose differs from patient to patient, which is why we tend to proceed more cautiously at the first treatment. If the result is too strong or, conversely, too subtle for you, contact us and the doctor will assess how to proceed with the next treatment.   • What are the side effects and what should I expect after the treatment?

    Mild redness and swelling at the injection site are most common and usually settle down within 24 hours; a small bruise or temporary headache is less common. No recovery time is needed, and you can return to your usual activities right after the treatment. For the first 4 hours after treatment, we do not recommend lying down or intense exercise, and avoid the sauna and heat for 24 hours. Less commonly, eyelid ptosis or eyebrow asymmetry can occur; these tend to be temporary and fade as the effect wears off. The next question describes when you should contact us.

  • When should I contact you after the treatment?

    If you notice eyelid ptosis, double or blurred vision, or significant facial asymmetry, contact us at +420 777 879 849 so we can assess your condition. Contact us as well if redness, swelling, or pain at the injection site increases instead of easing after the first few days, as this may indicate an infection. Rarely, muscle weakness away from the injection site or difficulty swallowing or breathing may occur, even days to weeks later. In that case, contact us right away; if you have difficulty breathing, seek emergency medical care.

  • How should I prepare for the treatment?

    For seven days before the treatment, avoid over-the-counter painkillers containing acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen, and alcohol, as they increase the risk of bruising. Do not stop any medication prescribed by your doctor, especially blood thinners, on your own. Talk to your treating physician first. Come to the treatment without makeup. At the consultation, tell us about pregnancy and breastfeeding, any neuromuscular disease, allergies, and all medication you take, because some aminoglycoside antibiotics and medication affecting muscle tone can enhance the effect of botulinum toxin.

  • What is the difference between Botox and filler?

    Botulinum toxin relaxes facial muscles, so it addresses wrinkles caused by movement, typically on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. Hyaluronic acid filler, on the other hand, restores missing volume and addresses wrinkles and folds that are visible even at rest, for example nasolabial folds or the lips. These are therefore two different methods with different goals, not a cheaper and more expensive version of the same thing. The doctor will assess what matches your findings at a free consultation.

  • Who is Botox not suitable for?

    We do not perform the treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, during an active inflammation or infection at the injection site, or in case of a known allergy to any ingredient of the product. It is also not suitable for neuromuscular disease, which includes myasthenia gravis. For autoimmune disease and blood clotting disorders, the doctor decides individually based on your condition and the medication you take. We therefore discuss your health, medication, and allergies at the consultation before the first treatment.
