What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical eyelid procedure that removes excess skin, fat pads and rejuvenates the eye area. The procedure improves both appearance and function – upper eyelids can eliminate the feeling of 'heavy' eyes or limited vision.

Eyelid surgery is one of the most common aesthetic procedures and delivers significant facial rejuvenation with natural results. Thanks to precise incisions in natural eyelid creases, scars are virtually invisible.

Who is this procedure suitable for?

Women and men with sagging eyelid skin

Tired appearance, puffiness or 'bags' under the eyes

When makeup doesn't hold well or eyelids visually 'droop'

If you want naturally younger appearance without significant change in facial expression

How does the procedure work?

1

Consultation and planning

We'll discuss your expectations, I'll assess eyelid anatomy and propose optimal solution. I'll answer all questions and explain the procedure.

2

Surgery

Procedure typically takes 45-90 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia. Incision follows natural eyelid crease, making scars virtually invisible. Lower eyelids most commonly address fat pads and excess skin.

3

Immediately after surgery

After procedure you can go home. Stitches are removed after 5-7 days. Rest, cooling and sun avoidance are recommended.

4

Recovery

Swelling and bruising subside within 7-14 days. Final result stabilizes over several weeks. During healing it's important to protect area from sun.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about this procedure

Is eyelid surgery painful?

Procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you don't feel pain during surgery. After procedure there may be mild discomfort managed with regular analgesics.

How long is recovery?

Swelling and bruising subside within 7-14 days. Stitches removed after 5-7 days. Most patients return to work after 7-10 days. Final result visible after several weeks.

Will scars be visible?

Incisions are made in natural eyelid creases, so scars are virtually invisible after healing. They gradually fade and blend with surrounding skin.

Can I have only upper or only lower eyelids done?

Yes, surgery can be performed separately on upper or lower eyelids according to your needs. I'll recommend optimal solution during consultation.

When will I see final results?

Significant improvement is visible after swelling subsides (2-3 weeks). Final result stabilizes within 2-3 months as tissues complete healing.

How long do results last?

Eyelid surgery results are long-lasting and typically persist many years. Natural aging process continues, but significant improvement remains.

What is the cost of eyelid surgery?

Price depends on procedure extent (upper/lower eyelids, unilateral/bilateral). Exact quote provided after personal consultation.

Can I wear contact lenses after surgery?

I recommend discontinuing contact lenses one week before surgery and minimum 2 weeks after. Use glasses during healing.

What are surgery risks?

Blepharoplasty is safe procedure with low complication risk. Temporary swelling, redness, temporary sensitivity changes may occur. Serious complications are rare.

Do I need hospitalization?

No, eyelid surgery is performed outpatient. After procedure you can go home accompanied by adult person.

When can I resume sports after surgery?

Light activity (walks) can begin after few days. I recommend postponing intense sports for 3-4 weeks until area is fully healed.

Can surgery be combined with other procedures?

Yes, eyelid surgery can often be combined with brow lift, botox application or other aesthetic procedures. Comprehensive plan proposed during consultation.
