Answers to the most common questions about this procedure
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating (2-4× more than normal). Botox blocks nerve signals to sweat glands, dramatically reducing sweat production in the treated area. 90-95% effectiveness.
Most common: underarms, palms, feet, forehead. Underarms are most popular (easiest application, highest patient satisfaction). Palms and feet are more painful, so we use local anesthesia.
Underarms: minimal discomfort, tolerable without anesthesia. Palms/feet: we use anesthetic cream or nerve block for comfort. The entire procedure takes 20-30 minutes.
Average 6-12 months, up to 14 months in 40% of patients. Longest duration in underarms. For year-round protection, we recommend a refresh in spring before summer season.
Sweating reduction begins 2-4 days after application. Maximum effect occurs at 7-14 days. Results are dramatic – 80-95% reduction in sweating in the treated area.
Absolutely safe. The human body has 2-4 million sweat glands. Treating underarms (2% of glands) won't harm thermoregulation. The body adapts – you'll sweat elsewhere (back, abdomen), but unnoticeably.
For underarms: 50-100 units of Botox (15-25 injections per side). For palms: 100-150 units. Dosage individually adjusted based on sweating severity. All in one session.
Minimal. Small bruises (2-3 days), mild soreness at injection site (24h). Extremely rare temporary muscle weakness in palms (one week). No long-term complications.
Shave underarms 24h beforehand (not right before). Skip deodorant the day before. One week without aspirin/ibuprofen. Come in a short-sleeve shirt or top.
Not suitable for pregnant/nursing women, myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, allergy to botulinum toxin or albumin. Caution with neurological diseases.
Unfortunately no. Botox for sweating is considered a cosmetic procedure in Czech Republic, not a medical necessity. Fully paid by patient. Some foreign insurers (UK, USA) cover it for severe hyperhidrosis.
24 hours: no sports, sauna, hot bath. Don't touch the areas (massage, depilation). Deodorant can be used immediately. Showering OK. Avoid lifting heavy objects the first day.
