Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in human skin and binds water. Depending on the technique and amount of material used, the treatment can add volume, define the vermilion border, or correct asymmetry. Whether the treatment is suitable for you is assessed by your doctor at a free consultation, based on your health and the starting shape of your lips. Hyaluronic acid is absorbed gradually, so the result is temporary.

    Lip augmentation starts at CZK 6,000. The final price depends on the amount of hyaluronic acid used and the extent of the treatment. If volume is built up gradually over two sessions, we confirm the price of the second session in advance, so it is clear that this is not a single combined price.   • Will my lips look natural and can I choose the shape?

    We plan the shape and the amount of material together with you at a consultation beforehand, because the result should match your facial proportions. Volume can be built up gradually, so it is possible to start with a smaller amount and refine the shape at a later visit. Adding volume, defining the vermilion border, and correcting asymmetry are three different goals, and it is worth deciding in advance which one you want. Your doctor chooses the specific injection technique based on the anatomy of your lips and the goal you agree on together.

  • When will I see the result and how long does it last?

    The effect is visible right after the treatment, though for the first 1 to 2 days it is distorted by swelling. Within a few days, the swelling and any minor irregularities settle down and the shape evens out. The result is temporary. Hyaluronic acid is absorbed gradually, so your lips do not change suddenly. How long the result lasts for you depends on the material used, your metabolism, and your lifestyle, so we cannot promise an exact duration in advance.

  • How much filler will I need for my lips?

    The doctor determines the amount of material at a consultation, based on the anatomy of your lips, your starting volume, and the goal of the treatment. A more noticeable change is usually spread across several sessions, because building up volume gradually is gentler on the tissue than applying a large amount at once. You will find out how much material you need and how many sessions that means at a free consultation, before the treatment.

  • What if I do not like the result?

    Contact us and we will arrange a follow-up visit, where the doctor will assess the shape and discuss the next steps with you. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved using the enzyme hyaluronidase, but this is a separate procedure with its own risks, and the outcome is assessed individually. Minor irregularities are evaluated only after the swelling has gone down, since assessing them earlier does not make sense. The goal of the follow-up visit is to find a solution that fits your specific case.

  • Does lip filler injection hurt?

    We generally use a filler that contains the local anaesthetic lidocaine, and we also apply a local anaesthetic cream before the treatment. How the procedure feels varies from patient to patient. Many patients describe pressure and a brief pinch rather than pain. If you are sensitive to the treatment, let us know in advance and we will adjust the approach. The whole treatment, including shaping, takes 20 to 40 minutes.

  • What are the risks and side effects?

    After treatment, mild swelling, small bruises, and increased sensitivity of the lips are common and settle down within a few days. Temporary unevenness or asymmetry can occur, and the doctor will assess this at a follow-up visit once the swelling has gone down. Inflammation at the injection site is rare, and patients prone to cold sores may develop one, which is why we ask about cold sores beforehand. Serious complications, such as vascular occlusion by the filler, are rare.   • How should I prepare for the treatment and care for my lips afterwards?

    For one week before the treatment, avoid over-the-counter painkillers containing acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen, vitamin E, and alcohol, as they increase the risk of bruising. Do not stop any medication prescribed by your doctor, especially blood thinners or antiplatelet medication, on your own. Talk to your treating physician first. Come to the treatment without makeup, and if you get cold sores, let us know in advance. For the first 48 hours, avoid sport, sauna, alcohol, and kissing, and sleep on your back the first night. Cooling during the first 24 hours reduces swelling, and you can apply makeup again after 24 hours.

  • Who is lip augmentation not suitable for?

    We do not perform this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or during an active infection, including an active cold sore on or around the lips. We also do not perform it if you have a known allergy to lidocaine or hyaluronic acid. For autoimmune conditions and a tendency to form keloid scars, the doctor decides individually after assessing your condition. That is why we discuss your health, allergies, and any medication you take at the consultation before treatment.
