A calcium hydroxylapatite filler for facial volume and contours
What Is Radiesse
Radiesse is an injectable product whose active ingredient is microscopic particles of calcium hydroxylapatite in a gel carrier. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a mineral that occurs naturally in bone. The product is used to restore volume and shape facial contours. The particles are also reported to stimulate the skin to produce its own collagen at the injection site.

Answers to the most common questions about this procedure
-
What is Radiesse and who is it suitable for?
Radiesse is an injectable product containing microscopic particles of calcium hydroxylapatite in a gel carrier. It is used to restore volume and shape facial contours, for example in the cheeks, chin and lower jawline. The particles are also reported to stimulate collagen production. Whether the treatment is suitable for you is assessed by your doctor at a free consultation, based on your health and findings. The result is temporary, as the product is gradually broken down.
-
How much does Radiesse cost in Poděbrady?
The price depends on the treated area and the amount of product. According to the price list, the cheek area is from CZK 6,000, the chin from CZK 4,000 and the Javelin lower jawline from CZK 8,000. Other items are in the price list. Your doctor determines how much product you need, so we confirm the final price at a free consultation.
-
Which areas can be treated with Radiesse?
The price list covers the cheek area, chin, corners of the mouth and the Javelin lower jawline, meaning the line of the jaw. Skinbooster is a separate item and refers to a use aimed at skin quality and firmness rather than volume. Your doctor assesses at the consultation which area and approach match your findings. Lips are treated with a hyaluronic acid filler; see the Lip Augmentation page.
-
What is the difference between Radiesse and a hyaluronic acid filler?
Hyaluronic acid is a gel that binds water and can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite particles that hyaluronidase does not dissolve, and it is also reported to stimulate collagen. Both restore volume; they differ in the properties of the material and in how well they suit each area. Your doctor will assess at a free consultation which one matches your findings.
-
Does Radiesse hurt and how does the treatment work?
How it feels varies from person to person, and some patients describe pressure rather than pain. The product may contain the local anaesthetic lidocaine, and depending on the area a numbing cream can be applied beforehand. The product is placed with a fine needle or cannula in the chosen layer, and the doctor may shape it with the fingers. If you are sensitive, tell us in advance and the approach will be adjusted.
-
When will I see the result and how long does it last?
The added volume is often visible soon after the injection, but swelling can distort it for the first few days. Radiesse is a temporary filler that the body gradually breaks down. How long the result lasts for you depends on the treated area, the amount of product, your metabolism and your lifestyle, so an exact duration cannot be promised in advance. Your doctor will advise whether and when to repeat the treatment.
-
How much product will I need and how many sessions?
Your doctor determines the amount of product at the consultation, based on your anatomy, your starting point and the goal of the treatment. A more noticeable change can be spread across several sessions, because building up volume gradually is gentler on the tissue than injecting a large amount at once. You will learn how much product you need and how many sessions that means at a free consultation, before the treatment.
-
What are the risks and side effects?
Swelling, redness, small bruises and tenderness are common and settle within a few days. Temporary unevenness or asymmetry can occur. Firmer lumps or infection at the injection site are rare; because Radiesse has no specific dissolving agent, the doctor assesses each case individually. Serious complications, such as a blocked blood vessel, are rare. If you notice severe pain, blanching or a change in skin colour, or a vision disturbance, contact us at once on +420 777 879 849; for a vision disturbance, seek emergency medical care.
-
How should I prepare and how should I care for my skin afterwards?
In the days before the treatment, avoid over-the-counter painkillers containing acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen, vitamin E and alcohol, as they increase the risk of bruising; your doctor will advise how long. Do not stop any medication prescribed by your doctor, especially blood thinners, on your own; talk to your treating physician first. Come to the appointment without make-up. Your doctor will give you aftercare instructions, which may include limiting exercise, sauna and alcohol in the first days.
-
Who is Radiesse not suitable for?
The treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, during an active infection or inflammation in the treated area, or if you have a known allergy to a component of the product or to lidocaine. For autoimmune conditions, bleeding disorders and a tendency to form keloid scars, the doctor decides individually. The treatment is also not performed in people with a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). Tell us in advance if you tend to get cold sores or have had a previous filler or thread in the area. That is why we discuss your health, allergies and medication at the consultation before the treatment.
