Fotona is an established laser platform in aesthetic medicine. We operate two devices: StarWalker MaQX for pigmentation, tattoo removal and vascular lesions, and TimeWalker 4D PRO for non-invasive rejuvenation and facial lifting.

A laser for targeted skin concerns. It is used mainly for removing tattoos and permanent makeup, and for pigmentation spots, small vessels and redness, laser hair removal and acne.

Fotona 4D lifting

A laser protocol on the TimeWalker 4D PRO that works in four phases, from inside the mouth and on the facial skin. The aim is to firm slack skin and soften wrinkles without incisions or fillers.

Tattoo removal

The StarWalker MaQX laser breaks up ink in the skin. Both black and colored tattoos can be treated, usually 4-⁠6 treatments, 6-⁠8 weeks apart.

Laser hair removal

The Nd:YAG laser acts on the hair follicle and reduces hair growth. This is hair reduction, not complete hair removal.

Scars and stretch marks

We treat scars and stretch marks with fractional and ablative laser modes, combined with Nd:YAG where indicated. The approach depends on the extent and diagnosis, and the doctor may also choose a combination with another method.

Preparation

The treatment area is cooled locally, protective gel is applied, and eye protection is provided. Topical anesthetic or sedation may be used depending on the extent of treatment.

Treatment

Duration 30 to 60 minutes depending on the type of procedure. With tattoos and pigmentation you feel a brief stinging sensation, with fractional modes more of a warmth.

Post-Treatment Care

Healing time depends on the treatment type, from minimal to several days or a week after fractional and ablative treatments. Protect treated skin from the sun with SPF 50 cream and follow the recommended aftercare.

When we do not perform laser treatment

We do not perform laser treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active infection or cold sore in the treated area, with unhealed skin at the treatment site, or with recent use of retinoids, especially isotretinoin within the last 6 months. If you take medications that increase skin sensitivity to light, tell us, as the treatment then needs to be planned in agreement with the prescribing doctor. Your skin phototype and current tan also play a role. We do not remove a pigmented mole by laser without a prior assessment by a dermatologist, because the laser destroys the tissue needed to rule out a tumor. We therefore review your health, medications and allergies at the consultation before the first treatment.

  • What are Fotona laser treatments and which lasers do we use?

    Laser treatment uses light energy aimed at a specific structure in the skin, for example pigment, a blood vessel or collagen in the deeper layers. We use two Fotona systems: StarWalker MaQX for targeted concerns such as tattoos, pigmentation, small vessels or unwanted hair, and TimeWalker 4D PRO, which combines Er:YAG and Nd:YAG wavelengths and is used for skin rejuvenation and firming. The specific approach depends on what you want to address. The doctor determines suitability, device and protocol at a free consultation based on your findings, skin phototype and health.

  • How much does laser treatment cost in Poděbrady?

    The price of laser treatment varies by indication, so we do not give a single figure. Prices range from CZK 700 up to CZK 20,000 depending on the treatment. For pigmentation spots, moles and warts it depends on the number of treated spots, for small vessels, acne and hair removal on the size of the treated area, and for tattoos and rejuvenation protocols it is charged per treatment. Many concerns are treated in a series, so we tell you an estimate of the total amount in advance. The doctor sets the exact price at a free consultation.

  • How is the choice between StarWalker and TimeWalker made?

    You do not need to choose the device or protocol, the doctor decides based on your findings. In general, StarWalker MaQX is used for targeted concerns such as tattoos, pigmentation, small vessels, acne or unwanted hair, and TimeWalker 4D PRO for skin rejuvenation, firming and renewal. Some concerns, for example acne scars, can be treated on both devices or combined with another method. At the consultation the doctor explains why a particular approach is chosen, how many treatments are expected and what to expect from them.

  • Does laser treatment hurt and how long does it take?

    How it feels depends on the type of procedure. With Q-switched treatment of tattoos and pigmentation, it is a brief stinging sensation, while fractional modes feel more like heat. Depending on the extent of treatment, we use cooling, a protective gel, and a local anaesthetic, and your eyes are protected throughout. If you are sensitive to treatment, let us know in advance. The treatment itself takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the type of procedure.

  • How long does recovery take after treatment?

    Recovery time depends on the treatment type. After most treatments the skin is briefly red and may peel. After tattoo removal, small blisters and crusts form in the treated area and heal within 1 to 2 weeks, and after fractional and ablative treatments the skin heals over several days to a week, or longer after deeper resurfacing. The doctor describes what to expect in advance, so you can plan your appointment around important work or social events.

  • When will I see a result and how long does it last?

    With pigmentation, small vessels and tattoos the result builds up gradually over the individual treatments in a series. With rejuvenation and lifting the result usually improves over 2 to 6 months because new collagen forms, and the effect is temporary, so the treatment is repeated over time. New pigmentation may appear, especially after sun exposure without protection, and with melasma you should expect it to return and a maintenance regime. Laser hair removal reduces hair but does not remove it completely. Results vary from person to person.

  • What are the possible side effects?

    After treatment, temporary redness, mild swelling, and skin sensitivity are common, and depending on the type of procedure, scabs or small blisters may also appear. With pigmentation treatment, there is a risk of temporary darkening or lightening of the skin at the treated site, and mild scarring rarely occurs with tattoo removal. With permanent make-up and certain tattoo pigments, paradoxical darkening of the pigment can occur, which is why you should tell us about permanent make-up in advance. In patients prone to cold sores, the laser can trigger an outbreak, which is why we ask about cold sores beforehand. The risk is reduced by setting the device according to your phototype and by following the aftercare instructions, especially sun protection.

  • When should I contact the clinic after laser treatment?

    Contact us if blisters, pus-like discharge, spreading redness, or fever occur, because this may indicate infection or deeper thermal damage to the skin. Also contact us if pain and swelling get worse after treatment instead of easing. Do not pick at scabs or blisters, as this risks scarring and infection. If you experience swelling of the face or tongue, hives, difficulty breathing, or a change in vision after treatment around the eyes, seek emergency medical care; in other cases, call the clinic at +420 777 879 849, sooner rather than later.

  • How should I prepare for laser treatment?

    Avoid intensive sunbathing and sunbeds for a minimum of 4 weeks before treatment, because tanned skin increases the risk of complications. One week before, skip peels containing fruit acids and topical retinoids, and after checking with your prescribing doctor, also skip any photosensitising medication. If you have taken isotretinoin in the last 6 months, tell us, as this is a reason to postpone the treatment. If you have recurring cold sores in the area we will be treating, tell us, because preventive antiviral treatment prescribed by a doctor is appropriate before the procedure. Come to the treatment without makeup.

  • Can I go out in the sun after treatment?

    After most laser procedures, avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks and use a sunscreen with SPF 50. In the first few weeks, the treated skin is more sensitive and the risk of pigmentation spots is higher. Avoid saunas and sunbeds for 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the type of treatment. If you are planning a seaside holiday, tell us when booking, and we will schedule the treatment accordingly.

  • Who is laser treatment not suitable for?

    We do not perform this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, during an active infection or cold sore in the treated area, or on unhealed skin at the treatment site. We also do not perform it after recent use of retinoids, especially isotretinoin taken in the last 6 months. We do not remove a pigmented mole with a laser without a prior dermatological assessment, because the laser destroys the tissue needed to rule out a tumour. If you take photosensitising medication, tell us, as the treatment then needs to be scheduled in agreement with your prescribing doctor. Your phototype and current level of tan also play a role, which is why we discuss your health, any medication you take, and allergies at the consultation before treatment.
